Fatty Patty Fund

Fatty Patty

RePets Shop Kitty adopted on March 17th 2008

Fatty Patty caught Tracy's eye when she was at our local shelter pulling
animals in to rescue. Residing on the bottom
cage, Patty was purring by
making a chirping sound. Tracy is usually drawn to the plump animals, she
pulled Patty to take to RePets. Only a few days passed before she grabbed our
hearts and we just couldn't let her go.

A few weeks later we noticed a decline in her health, Patty began having seizures and heart attacks. This begin a long term and very expensive medial treatment plan. The vet found toxins in her system that could not be removed causing her to be unable to metabolize her food which caused her to gain so much weight. Her body produces a secretion that caused her hair mat in a dread lock fashion, Her weight put stress on her heart, she couldn't clean her behind so she developed urinary tract infections, and the toxins caused the seizures. Giving her oral medications 2 and 3 times a day stressed her out so much it would cause her to have heart attacks. We had to compound her meds in to a cream that she could absorb in to her body by rubbing it in her ears. Its an expensive treatment but it made her comfortable. Patty's medications cost $80 to $130 per month, her prescriptions food cost $52 a month and her vet visits never ran less then $300 because
she was always needing special tests on her blood, urine and heart.

We are please to announce that after 4 years of treatment, the toxins have left her body. Shes loosing weight, shes is no longer having seizures or heart attacks and because
she can clean her own behind, shes no longer having bladder infections.  Patty is on special food to prevent her from having future bladder issues.

On Dec 5th, Patty started acting odd and breathing heavy. She was rushed her to the vet where she spent 2 days. She was diagnosed with FIP. What is FIP?
We are all devastated. Patty has become a part of not only our family but the RePets Family.  We are doing everything we can to make sure shes as comfortable as possible as we do not know how much time we have with her.

Patty made it out of the shelter and she made it thru all her toxin health issues all because so many people loved and supported her. Patty lived with Tracy until the FIP became to strong and she was unable to fight to live. Patty has gone to live with the angels now, but in her honor we have developed a Fund for shelter animals that are in some way struggling to find a forever home.

We think EVERY Cat and Dog deserves a chance to live a pampered life no matter what their situation is. We have started the Fatty Patty Fund in Sweet Patty's honor. This is where we raise money to sponsor adoption fees of long timers, the special needs and the less desirable animals in shelters in hopes of improving their chances of getting adopted into a loving home.

You can donate to this fund here on line, by mailing a check or by donating the stuff you dont want any more to our Thrift Store. We will seek an animal in need and improve there chances of finding a forever home that will fight for them and love them like they deserve
.
